Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm one hour in to my Thanksgiving holiday.... listening to music (not Christmas music yet, that comes later!), prepping turkey brine and getting ready to start on fresh cranberry compote.
Worked a half day, so I'm busy this afternoon, for sure. But the good kind of busy. The kind where my feet might ache and I might have a burn on my hand, and I know I will flop on the couch completely worn out at 9pm, but I'll be joyful because I was working hard to prepare a gift for people today.
I'm finding myself overcome with gratitude. For family, friends, faith, The Nourish Collective. And for the fact that I have a warm shelter, a safe place to live, and that I have a surplus of resources that allow me to celebrate by cooking an extravagant meal, that I have the privilege to take some time out of "normal life" for rest.
I'm speechlessly-grateful for the fact that despite poverty and disease and war and terrible circumstances that so many people still find cause to celebrate, all year round, in big and small ways. May we be inspired by this remembrance.
It isn't about the resources or food or gifts, or even family necessarily. It's about love and joy.
This Thanksgiving may we all be overwhelmed with love and amazement and mystery and gratefulness. May we not get too distracted from the present moment by all of the "Black Friday" sales and the "big Holiday" right around the corner. May true joy be ours this Thanksgiving.
